Grade 11: Assembly - Learn to Listen
On the morning of September 29, 2022, during the grade eleven assembly, Jennifer from class 11(8) shared some crucial tips on how to be an expert in communication, which is an essential skill for high school students.
To begin with, she emphasized the importance of speaking to someone with two key foundations: the right time and the right place. The reason for such, as Jennifer further explained, is that it could be hard to understand the contents of the conversation when the surroundings are loud and distracting. Moreover, she stressed the balance of how long someone speaks versus listens to another. She urged people who are often dominant during a conversation to listen more and allow the other person to speak more.
Last but not the least, Jennifer encouraged the junior students to prevent any possible distractions that may occur during the conversation to fully engage with the person and listen to what he or she is saying to have a better conversation overall. Conversation skills are undoubtedly critical not only in high school but also in college, the workspace, etc. Hence, Jennifer’s passionate, informative speech definitely widened the door of communication to the juniors.
