Lingang Campus: Build a Safe Growing Environment for Children

In order to enhance the safety and fire prevention awareness of all teachers and students and improve their safety self-rescue as well as self-protection ability, SHSID Lingang campus conducted a fire safety emergency drill in the afternoon of September 28th for the new semester. The fire drill was combined with the students' personal growth class, hoping that such an activity could make students understand the basic knowledge of fire escape and learn the basic escaping skills.

Before the activity started, the first and second grade students were guided by their teachers to learn the correct way of escape in case of fire and to get familiar with the escape routes in the school building. Through watching the video and interactive activities, students learned about such questions as: 1. How to avoid fire in life; 2. What should we do in the first place to ensure our own lives in case of fire; 3. How to evacuate the fire place safely, orderly and quickly in case of fire in school?

At around 14:25, the fire alarm was sounded, smoke quickly filled the air, and the fire drill began. Under the leadership and command of the teachers, the first and second grade students covered their mouths and noses with their hands, bent over and went down the stairs to the designated evacuation position in a fast pace according to the established route. The whole drill process was fast and orderly, and it only took all teachers and students less than 1 minute to complete the evacuation.

We cannot predict the future, but what we can do is to pay attention to safety education, so that children could gain the awareness of prevention, master the methods of response, internalize the process of drills into their own experience. Our school is devoted to building a safe growing environment to accompany the growth of our children!
