Pudong Campus: Summer Assignment Show
In order to provide students with a happy and meaningful summer holiday, teachers carefully designed a variety of summer assignments that provided students with a stage to express themselves. The summer assignments done by the students from grades 2 to 5 in SHSID Pudong campus impressed the teachers and paved a good path for their learning journey in the new semester. Now, let's see how much the children are enjoying themselves!
The 2nd graders completed two projects over the summer: a Birthday Handbook and a Money in My Country project. For the Birthday Handbook presentation, they introduced their own birthday as well as the upcoming birthdays in their family. In Chinese class, the students went up to the podium one by one and enthusiastically presented their work. In math class, the students introduced their country's coins and paper money and pondered the use of money in their lives with a combination of pictures and text.
The 3rd graders made a poster titled, “What If I were...”. They imagined that they were a specific character in a fiction story and what they could do in order to have a better story ending. Students took on the main role in the story and showed a more positive attitude toward the difficulties as well as challenges presented to them. This assignment highlighted our students’ creativity skills and growth mindset.
The 4th grade students collected weekly news concerning current affairs and science during the summer vacation. They also accumulated a wealth of vocabulary and made a beautiful Chinese vocabulary book. For the math holiday homework, students could choose to use what they had learned to draw a geometric perspective or conduct data research and integration. They also introduced a mathematician in the form of a poster. In the PG class, the students each selected one of their favorite summer assignments to display. Everyone wandered around the classroom and carefully wrote words of encouragement and appreciation.
The 5th grade students traveled back to ancient times to help the “Hundred Schools of Thought” by making posters to recruit students. The content of the posters included the name of the school, the introduction of the school's tutors, outstanding alumni, main ideological theories, representative works, and the schools’ contributions to social and historical development. Each student contributed to the recruitment of the "Hundred Schools of Thought” and gained a certain understanding of the various schools in the process.
The fifth-grade students also made their own math vocabulary book, which included definitions of some math concepts. For each concept, they gave an example or drew a picture to explain it in detail. Through this assignment, our students not only had a systematic review of the knowledge they had learned in the 4th grade but also developed their independent learning skills.
The excellent student works are now displayed on campus. In the new semester, students of SHSID Pudong campus will continue using hard work, a good attitude, and rich creativity in order to achieve their goals and challenge themselves to the max.
