Lingang Grade 2: Summer Homework Display
During the first week back to school, the children from SHSID Lingang campus were all very enthusiastic and full of hope as they embarked on their new life in the new semester. In order to show the richness of their holiday life and to further motivate them to study, the second graders had a unique subject assignment exhibition in Chinese and Math classes respectively.
As part of their Chinese homework during summer holiday, each student completed a birthday handbook about "love". They were asked to record the details of their birthday experiences with their families to express their feelings of love and family warmth. Each carefully-cropped photo and each beautifully-written paragraph recorded those unforgettable memories and wonderful moments spent with their family members. It was touching that students all mentioned that they would like to give a unique gift to their parents on their next birthday, such as cooking a delicious breakfast for their mom or offering shoulder massages for their hard-working dad. The children's self-confidence and smiling faces when mentioning their families added a different meaning to this colorful holiday assignment.
In the math project, students were asked to choose a country and explore its currency system. When posters were hung up for display, they showed a wide variety of "coins" and "banknotes". We were presented with diverse banknotes from China, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan and other countries. Through students' wonderful sharing, our children not only strengthened the basic method of currency conversion, but also learned some interesting and useful new knowledge. For example, the Australian dollar bills are colorful and made of plastic, so they are not easily rubbed or broken! Many students also found new ways to make their homework projects, such as hidden flip books, fun Monopoly posters and so on, which attracted everyone’s attention!
Although the pleasant and fulfilling holidays has already ended, a new chapter of a wonderful and rich learning life has been opened. We hope that students can maintain this high enthusiasm for learning and write a more splendid page in the new semester!
