Grades 11-12 Opening Ceremony Held

September 1, 2022

School has started! And the students finally got back on campus after a six-month absence! The beautiful campus is still flourishing, while the students have all moved up a level, and the 11th and 12th graders have entered a new phase of the study. On the afternoon of August 31, all Grade 11 and Grade 12 students along with their teachers gathered in the Grand Auditorium to welcome the new school year with a grand opening ceremony.

The ceremony began with a video, reviewing those key moments of the previous school year. The ceremony was hosted by Ms. Wu Chen, the Head of Grade 12, and it started with a speech by High School Principal Ma Feng. Principal Ma reviewed the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2022 and encouraged the students to study hard, play hard, and embrace the next school year in both great physical and mental conditions! The school will provide students with comprehensive support and guidance with respect to curriculum, education modes, and college application. Principal Ma encouraged the students to stay positive and face difficulties and challenges fearlessly. His talk also provoked the students to think critically about the definition of “success”.

After Principal Ma's speech, Grade 11 teachers and students gave their speeches. The Head of Grade 11, Mr. Hong Miao, made a request to the students in terms of the breadth and depth of their study, hoping that they would focus on their interests and potential, enrich their knowledge, and expand their horizons so as to lay a solid foundation for their future development. Student representatives from Grade 11 also shared their experiences and insights on time management and how to make choices in diversified development.

Then, Ms. Wu Chen gave a speech encouraging students to make good use of their last year in high school and view college applications as a wholesome process instead of a single result that defines them. She further encouraged seniors to review their high school years in depth, know more about themselves, and show a unique self in the process of college applications. The two student representatives from Grade 12 also sincerely shared their own growth insights: to be brave enough to face your responsibilities in learning and life, to not delay or even avoid doing something because of fear; to be brave enough to try activities that interest you; to keep exploring yourself and reflecting and to believe that any experience can be meaningful.
