Grades 9-10: Scholarship Interview
On August 29, 2022, a group of new 10th and 11th graders reported back to Zhentao Building to participate in the annual scholarship selection session regarding their past school year.
The students applied to a variety of awards, including the the Social Activities Award and the Principal's List. Out of them, the Academic Achievement Award necessitates outstanding academic performance; the Social Activities Award rather focuses on participation of curricular and extracurricular activities; the Principal's List award requires a combination of excellent academic achievements and activities. Noting this, candidates of each award re-united at school and present their personal development throughout the school year of 2021 to a panel of judges composed of teachers, student representatives, and parent representatives.
In defense of their application for the scholarship, each participant had 3 minutes to present their outstanding talents to their audience and 2 minutes to answer questions from the judging panel.
Throughout numerous 5-minute periods, the scholarship candidates demonstrated their outstanding achievements in a multitude of realms. Their academic and extracurricular achievements were brilliantly demonstrated through a variety of competitions. Moreover, students also showed their active participation in clubs and school teams. They also described their personal gains from extracurricular activities such as rowing and drawing. Some students even shared their experiences participating in welfare programs, contributing to not only the school, but the national community.
Regardless of the results of the selections, it is important to notice that such experience is meaningful and rewarding in and of itself. We wish all candidates greater achievements in the future and hope that they can maintain excellence and devotion in the fields they are pursuing. May they all further explore this world, and take a step into maturity.
