Grade 6:Online Talent Show - Special Stage, Special Brilliance
It has been more than one month since students started online classes at home on March 12. While learning online, the students actively participated in various online school activities, such as daily physical exercise records, reading and sharing, anti-epidemic hero, and so on. The Grade 6 online talent show was also one of the big events that brought great joy to all.
After two weeks of preparation, the online talent show opened during the Youth Development class on April 21. The grade six students submitted 45 videos which were divided into four parts: singing, dancing, instrumental performance, and language and magic. The enthusiastic participation of students laid a good foundation for the success of the talent show.
Different from the talent show held on campus, the online talent show broke the limits of time and space, which brought us different highlights. In the singing programs, some students sang a song while playing guitar or piano by themselves, some students sang together with their friends online, and some sat on the ground at home and sang naturally. We felt the love for life from their voices.
The surprise of dance performances came not only from the dancing but also the different kinds of places where they danced. The living room, basketball court, even the top platform of the building with other buildings as the background... a cool visual effect can appear with the technology of video editing. So, the students found a stage and danced everywhere.
The instrumental performance part included many different kinds of musical instruments such as piano, violin, flute, as well as special ones such as drums, Kalimba, and even Garage Band on iPad. Some students played the same piece of work with two different instruments and finished one person's “ensemble” through video editing, others invited their families to complete the performance with them, and some who live in the same community played together. All these performances reflected the students’ creative ideas, which were really amazing.
In the language and magic programs, the students wrote the content by themselves. Some chose interesting things that happened during the online classes, others talked about how to speak a foreign language, and some played both roles by themselves. For example, the magic of playing cards and coins together seemed incredible to many students. All these individual performances were wonderful and showed the students’ various talents!
After watching the individual performances, the students voted on LinkedClassroom. The best three performances were the following:
The instrumental performance《Dance Monkey》 Dora 6(10), Ryan 6(8), and Rachael 6(9)
Dancing《Juicy》 Shinhu 6(10)
Singing 《我和我的祖国》 Raymond 6(6)
Congratulations to the award winners, and thanks to everyone who participated in the online talent show for the wonderful and unforgettable performances!
In addition to the individual programs, another highlight of the online talent show was the class singing. All the students practiced singing together and gradually caught the rhythm. After recording the class singing, the video editing upgraded the effects. By adding visual senses, the final version became amazing. These class singing videos were also put on LinkedClassroom. Everyone can enjoy the songs of different styles. They include “One Day,” which shows helping each other deliver warmth, “Believer” and “Never Gonna Give You Up,” which encourage people to keep working hard, and “Da Coconut Nut,” which students sing full of joy.
Grade 6 invited the music teachers to be the judges. Congratulations to the following classes which won the awards:
Best Harmony Award and Best Editing Award
6(3) 《Never gonna give you up》
Best Unison Award
6(9) 《Memories》
6(1) 《One day》
6(5) 《Never gonna give you up》
Best Solo Award
6(4) 《Coconut nut》
Although we are separated at home, meeting online has made us feel closer to each other. The online talent show was not only a display of talents but a manifestation of students’ love for life and how bravely we face challenges. Let’s look forward to the day when we can meet again on campus!
