Puxi Campus Grade 1-Grade 3: Online Classes Start

March 15, 2022

On March 14, SHSID started classes online. All students of the Puxi campus grades 1-3 are about to begin their new adventures.

In the morning, teachers and students met at the Tencent Meeting. Although they could not meet in person, they were still full of enthusiasm and energy just like, every time they met on Monday.

Teachers greeted the students first. This is the first time for the G1 and G2 students to use Tencent Meeting, and they were looking for the camera curiously. When some of the students found the camera, they excitedly put their eyes on it. Probably they wanted to see if their teachers and classmates were hidden behind the camera. The G3 students, familiar with this app, were already prepared to listen to the lecture by themselves.

After the greetings, teachers guided the students on how to develop good habits when learning remotely such as proper postures while sitting at a desk. The students knew the daily routine under the guidance of the teachers, aiming to become independent learners.

Teachers also taught students how to create a daily schedule. Classes can’t be missed, exercise can’t be less, and get up and go to bed on time. All schedules are the same as during school, plus children can learn independently at home at their own pace.

After emphasizing the crucial study habits, the teachers introduced LinkedClassroom as the primary platform used during the online learning period. On the LC platform, students are empowered to learn independently and finish interesting tasks created by their teachers according to the timetable every day, such as watching videos, reading, practicing, etc. They can also take part in music, art, sports, optional courses online. The online courses take advantage of pre-recorded content and broadcast, supplemented by exercises, discussions, and quizzes. Students have access to all the materials and videos so that they don’t have to worry about missing out on any important points. Each day, teachers will set up three meetings. During the lively morning read-aloud session, the teachers will put a variety of wonderful activities to increase teacher-student and student-student interactions. Two online Q&A sessions will be in the morning and afternoon to help students sort out the problems they have and check students’ homework corrections. Finally, the students signed a pledge for learning online. The well-written signatures are a significant promise to its owner: I will become a qualified E-independent learner from today onwards!

With the two orientations, students of grades 1-3 were already looking forward to practicing their habits to be self-directed learners for online learning. At the end of the meeting, everyone said goodbye as usual and could not wait to see each other online the next day.
