Grade 10: Introduction to Youth Impact Communication
On February 23rd, 2022, the tenth graders gathered in the Zhentao Building lecture hall for their first assembly of the spring semester. This week, Elizabeth from 10th grade represented her youth impact communication team to give her fellow peers a talk on second-hand pressure.
The lecture began with Elizabeth showing the audience a video about her topic of discussion. The video introduced what second-hand pressure is, and what were especially notable were the interviews the video included. After the video, Elizabeth gave a more detailed description of what the second-hand mood was. Students were provided with a nuanced explanation as to how the unfavorable mental state of others could affect them. She showed the audience different statistics that reflect trends taking place in the status quo. Through these statistics, Elizabeth pointed out how depression rates were rising among individuals, but the large majority of families are not putting much focus on this issue. Lastly, she gave students some tips regarding how to deal with second-hand pressure.
Overall, the presentation addressed a very meaningful topic that was quite relevant to the students’ daily lives.
