History and Geography Department: Department Summary Meeting

On the morning of January 17, all the Middle and High School History and Geography teachers met in the history room of the Zhentao Building to have the department summary meeting of this semester. Firstly, the head of the department Ms. Li expressed her affirmation and gratitude to the efforts of all the teachers. Next, she invited the new teachers to share their experience and sentiment of the past semester. There are 11 new teachers altogether. New geography teachers of the Middle School shared some strategies in balancing time and contents, especially flipped classrooms. They set goals and aimed to design more engaging projects for the students. New history teachers of the Middle School shared their experiences of how to deal with the first two units of the 6thand 7thgrade and introduced some successful class activities of this semester. New history teachers of the High School provided some inspiring ideas about how to organize students-centered activities through some specific projects. For example, teachers are encouraged to design some cross-level projects and ask their students to communicate and conduct presentations together.

To sum up, the growth of the new teachers is based not only on the hard work of their own but also the combined efforts made with the experienced teachers. Many new teachers mentioned their great appreciation of the fantastic resource-sharing within their groups. At last, Ms. Li wished everyone to have a safe and happy new year holiday.
