Grade 9 Assembly: Find Your Passion in Physics
On the morning of December 28th, 2021, following the relaxing Christmas break, all ninth-grade students gathered in the Zhentao Lecture Hall for the weekly assembly. Jonathan from 9(8) shared his experiences and tips for physics learning.
Jonathan began by explaining the importance of physics. Physics is not a boring and theoretical subject. It is applied to many things in our world, from space exploration projects, like the newly-launched James Webb Telescope, to everyday objects like phones, lightbulbs, and computers. After that, Jonathan shared his journey in physics learning. He talked about how his interests in the field started with building a foxhole radio, which led him to learning things in electromagnetism, specifically capacitors, LC Resonance, diodes, circuits, and more. He demonstrated how he learned physics through a series of projects, and how he joined many clubs to facilitate his path in physics. He then suggested that students should find their own passions and explore their interests, like what he did. Lastly, Jonathan shared a few good resources for physics learning, notably 3 series of books and online resources like Khan Academy and the MIT OCW.
Overall, from this assembly, students of Grade 9 gained a deeper understanding of the importance of physics, understood how to explore their interests, and learned new ways to study physics.
