Primary School Math Department: Mathematics Week Showcase

December 29, 2021

The fourth-grade math week is centered around a “Chinese New Year Party” in which students collaborated to design a party for 25 people to celebrate Chinese New Year. The fourth graders used their thinking and communication skills to design the party, the location, and the content.

The students actively participated in the math week and carefully completed each group discussion. The school was excited to see the students apply their knowledge and skills to their daily lives. One group of students used their project management skills well in their weekend group meetings, as they rationalized their time and the small goals they needed to accomplish to make their discussions more productive.

The fourth graders completed a planning manual, and they created beautiful and exciting posters and videos to promote their party. They needed to consider the selling points of their party to promote it, and the students’ creative, critical thinking skills were on full display. The students found and applied math in their lives... That’s the beauty of math!

Let’s enjoy their math week results!
