Middle School Section: Working Together to Support Our DI Dream
Recently, ShanghaiDestination Imagination(DI)Competition reported exciting news, the SHSID middle school teamwonfirst place in Shanghai with premium scores and also a “FineArts” award.
The students attending this competition this year were comprised of seven students, who are seventh graders Anna, Sophie, Nicole, Victoria, and eighth-graders Rey, Alex, and Richy. The seven students, accompanied by the guidance teachers, worked together to complete this amazing accomplishment using creativity.
In the first semester, the DI team members had just formed. Students, under teachers’ guidance, understood the rules of DI and started to prepare for the competition. Every person had to do intensive research on two holidays, and the script was created after making copious edits. Students who were the best at verbal expression were the narrators, and students who were good at acting were active characters, like the gorillas. The students who were quick to use logical thinking tried to incorporate the boxes into the play. Every student understood the moral of “If you don’t put effort into it, you will have no reward as a consequence,” so everyone tried hard to complete the challenges.
Even if it meant staying until ten o’clock to film the video, students still participated actively with no worries or second thoughts. This is because of the determination to enter the nationals, and as a reward, they achieved the milestone of first place in Shanghai.
Tight schedules, harsh roads to success, nervous students awaiting their fate, endless rehearsals, unexpected results…These factors strongly contributed to their success. Let’s all work together and face the challenges bravely, to complete our DI dream!
