Primary School Subjects Department: Pudong G4 Silk Road Exploration
Silk Road might sound remote and unfamiliar for the grade four students. How will it look like when the Silk Road is brought into our hallway? During P&B class on December 9th, Pudong Grade four students had experienced the Silk Road Trading activity arranged by teachers.
At the beginning of the activity, students helped rearrange chairs to form territories of cities in the hallway. With the guidance of teachers, each student found a spot to represent one city on the Silk Road and traded goods with adjacent cities. They have to decide on which goods to be traded until they got what they want. Meanwhile, one teacher played the part of “War” and “Plague,” which plundered properties from cities and impede the trading on the Silk Road.
Grade 4 students had the chance to see the prosperity of the Silk Road and understand the convenience it brought to people through this meaningful activity. It also aimed at developing students’ communication skills, decision-making ability, and risk management.
