Grade 11:Envirothon
On the first assembly of December onDecember 3, Hanna from 11(6) gave a speech about the competition Envirothon. She started her speech with some basic information about the competition and then explained the four main topics: soil, forestry, wildlife, and aquatic. She explained how her topic, when she did the competition, had been soil, and now understands how to be a farmer if anyone ever gives her a plot of land. Moreover, she mentioned how, on the test, they would provide you with taxonomic keys, so it’s not just pure memorization but also critical thinking.
Furthermore, she mentioned the highlights of the competition Envirothon. Hanna said her task was a case study of a specific environmental problem that her team needed to solve. With this competition, she gained vast knowledge and experience and learned a lot from experts. She then went on to elaborate on how this competition is more than just a competition, but also an opportunity to have fun and create valuable friendships. One of the fun things they did during the competition was designing their own team T-shirts.
She explained how she gained practical environmental science skills and ecological awareness on subjects she wouldn’t have learned without the opportunity. She ended her speech by letting the audience know that there are info sessions on competition prep and vast participatory experience-sharing sessions to learn more about this competition in case people are interested.
