Grade 9 Assembly: Sharing on Teamwork
As students beginning high school and their high-school journey, they are required to do a “freshman project”, which is purposed to train their teamwork skills and critical-thinking ability. At the November 30th morning assembly, the students listened to a lecture by Aaron from 9(5).
Aaron’s lecture focused on helping his peers through some potential struggles in teamwork. He divided the presentation into three parts: choosing a team, three basic teamwork skills, and how to apply the teamwork skills to the freshman project. In the first part of the presentation, the students were introduced to two basic criteria in choosing a team: choosing responsible people as teammates and choosing familiar people. Aaron then explained the three main teamworking skills, which are “communication”, “practice”, and “responsibility”. He provided examples of his own team competition experiences for each of the teamwork skills, which include both examples of failure and success. He explained that teamwork isn’t about each individual team member doing their best; instead, it is a team holding each other up and supporting each other throughout the process. Later on, Aaron introduced some ways of how students could use teamwork skills during the process of their freshman project in order to improve their team’s efficiency.
Finally, at the end of Aaron’s speech, he introduced some team competitions for the students to challenge themselves with. Although the students all had teamwork experience before, Aaron’s lecture provided a more detailed suggestion. We wish every student excels in future teamwork events.
