Grade 11: Sharing on Music School Experience
At the weekly morning assembly on November 26th, an 11th grader shared her memorable music school experience. In the middle of this summer, she went to Beijing to attend a summer camp jointly organized by the Berklee College of Music.
She first shared her feelings about living in a dormitory for the first time. Boarding meant that she needed to manage her own daily life and wash her own clothes, but also that she got to live with her friends, which translated to opportunities to form deeper friendships. This experience made her more independent, while allowing her the chance to meet and make many new friends and enjoy her time there.
Afterwards, the speaker talked about her musical education. At the summer camp, she met many talented professors and students and also listened to many of their experiences and stories about learning music. Many of them work in different fields of music and also learn different instruments, thereby providing a holistic perspective about music. According to her, this guidance was invaluable and deeply impactful.
Then the speaker talked about her classmates in the summer camp. In the summer camp, she rehearsed and played music together with her classmates. Since everyone there had a great passion for music, they also taught each other their respective instruments. For example, she tried a drum kit in the summer camp, an instrument she had never touched before. Their shared love for music resulted in a collective experience where everyone was immersed in the act of playing music together, often rehearsing late into the night. In addition to her experience with classmates, the speaker also met many upperclassmen from the Berklee College of Music in the summer camp, who also gave her first-hand knowledge of being a musician.
At the end, the speaker introduced her latest personal album, which has been published on QQ Music. She called for all students who like music to pursue their dreams and express the ideas buried deep in their hearts through this form of creative expression.
