November 25, 2021

At SHSID, gratitude education has always been a very important part of the school’s core valueeducation. Thanksgiving Day is a good opportunity to remind and encourage students to review different aspects of life, feel the warmth in life, and express their gratitude to people around them.

As we all know, one of the holiday traditions of Thanksgiving is to eat a delicious meal. Thesecond-gradeteachers from SHSID Pudong Campus skillfully turned the original food feast into a visual feast—a reading buffet! In the PG class on November 15, all grade two students brought their favorite books to school and placed them in the classroom for everyone to browse and read. What a special taste!Meanwhile,thesecond-gradeteachers prepared a “turkey feather” for each student. On this “turkey feather,” students could record the books they have read and the reasons for their recommendations.Later on, these colorful “feathers” were be decorated on a cute little “turkey” and displayed in the hallway for everyone to see!

On the occasion of Thanksgiving on November 25, all the students received a special task to express gratitude to their family or friends and let them sign an invoice to prove their sweet service. Some children preparedbreakfast for their families, some gave their grandparents’ a shoulder massage, some helped their parents do housework within their abilities, and many more students made cards and crafts to express their love and gratitude to family members and friends... Every little thing contained the children’s deep gratitude, which also made the people who received the sweet service feel very warm.

Through these Thanksgiving activities, the students not only gained the happiness of reading, sharing, and being thankful to their teachers and fellow students, but they also learned how to express gratitude through the process of showing love. We believe they will all grow into loving and caring people in the future!
