Grade 10: Students' Sharing on Healthy Eating
On Thursday, November 17th, a Grade-10 assembly was held in the Zhentao Lecture Hall. The assembly began with the host first announcing a few notices and upcoming events that students can attend. Then, the guest assembly speaker, Miranda of 10(3), gave a speech on her experience with eating disorders. She began her speech by introducing some background information and context regarding her relationship with food, making connections to the overall COVID-19 lockdown social environment. Then, she talked about her struggles with eating and body dysmorphia, and how she eventually recovered. She concluded her speech by giving fellow students several pieces of advice regarding how to deal with eating disorders. The assembly was then dismissed.
Food and body image are certainly important topics that impact a significant portion of the student body. Hence, the assembly speaker’s speech was predictably rather helpful for those who were struggling with similar issues, which was shown by the massive round of applause she received after finishing her speech. Overall, the assembly speaker was able to provide valuable advice to students in need through her speech and display what assembly speeches are meant for.
