Grade 7: Youth Development Class "Gratitude"

November 19, 2021

On Nov. 12th, Grade 7 students learned an important lesson about friendship—gratitude—in the Youth Development Course.

Gratitude can be a relationship of thanks between two friends and can come in many forms. First, it’s necessary to distinguish if a friend is toxic or a true friend.

After showing the definition and allowing students to define the true meaning of gratitude, students learned to differentiate toxicity from the truth to better practice gratitude. Toxic friends are people who rely on your help and take advantage of your friendship. True friends are people who believe that you are good enough the way you are. Some people may be a mixture of both, especially when they’re having a bad day.

By identifying the multiple forms of gratitude, students can better understand what society feels like and understand friendship in their life and how it will benefit them. For those friends who are sincere to us, we should learn to be grateful.

Gratitude is essential, and it can allow people to know the true friendships in their life and differentiate them from the toxic ones.
