Grade 8: The Secret of Wealth

November 18, 2021

On the afternoon of November 18, Ms. Chen Nian, National Senior financial planner, was invited to the eighth grade of the SHSID to give the students an innovative wealth lesson.

Ms. Chen started with the interactive game “Treasure Box of Wealth” and asked the students to draw the image of “Wealth” in their minds in groups. Next, in the class discussion, everyone realized that the forms of wealth are diverse, the measurement methods are constantly changing, and the changes brought by wealth to the world are revolutionary.

The second question discussed in class is, where does personal wealth come from? The students mainly rely on pocket money from their parents. When they grow up, the source of funds will be broader, and wages and investment will be the two primary forms. In this regard, students cannot wait to grow up, hoping that the day when they can control their wealth will come soon.

The climax of the scene appeared in the introduction of investment varieties and the simulated investment competition. Ms. Chen first classified and introduced several common forms of investment, then each group received 1 million investment principal for distribution, and then calculated the rate of return after three years. During the competition, students intuitively experienced that predicting the trend of stocks and the acceptance of risks would directly affect the future rate of return. Finally, through calculation, a group obtained the “King of Investment” of this simulation competition with the highest rate of return.

After the class, the students were still eager to learn more. This “investment class” left a deep impression on the students, and everyone is looking forward to the subsequent in-depth discussion and study of wealth.
