High School Teachers' Self-Care Lecture Held
At 4:15 pm on October 25th, SHSID high school section invited the psychological counselor Ms. Niu Siyue to give a lecture on teacher self-care.
Ms. Niu's lecture started with the physiological basis of stress, and she used the logic of survival and evolution to show the physiological roots of stress, letting everyone realize that the effects of stress are not all bad, but stress overload is undoubtedly bad for health. At the same time, she also summarized four types of stress manifestations: emotions, behaviors, thoughts, and body reactions.
Then, Ms. Niu invited teachers to complete a questionnaire that could reflect the degree of individual self-care, and interpreted the feedback results of the questionnaire. Continuing the explanation of self-care and self-compassion, Mr. Niu further invited everyone to share the moments of self-blaming in an anonymous manner, and pointed out that understanding and understanding the situations and reasons behind self-blaming is the key to reducing the negative effects of stress. Through some examples, Ms. Niu showed the audience that there are many deep reasons for criticizing oneself, but what an individual can do is to supplement oneself with more positive energy. In terms of specific methods, learning to care for yourself, looking at the difficulties in life from multiple angles, understanding, accepting and controlling the role of negative emotions, and paying attention to the present are all effective alleviation strategies. At the end of the lecture, the teachers actively interacted with Ms. Niu and shared their strategies for transforming negative emotions. At the end of the lecture, Ms.Niu also further recommended some books and electronic resources for teachers to continue to pay attention to stress management and mental health.
Mental health is an issue that everyone should always pay attention to. This is the case for students and teachers as well. This lecture gave teachers the opportunity to learn more about mental health, so that they can face stress with healthier manners, relieve stress, and care for themselves while caring for students' growth.
