Puxi Campus Grade 3: Geo Fair
Can’t leave Shanghai, no problem! This week, all of the third grade students were whisked away for a whirlwind tour of eight different countries brought to them by their wonderful homeroom teachers. Students got the chance to take part in a range of varying activities from all over the world without even needing to pack a suitcase!
Entering class 3(1) they were greeted with a view of Japan and learned about the Japanese holiday of Omisoka while playing a festive game called “Lucky Laugh.” In class 3(2), students traveled to Italy to the Venice Carnival and created their own mask to take part. From there they were off to Africa in class 3(3), where they experienced the customs of Angola, learning how Angolans celebrate Birth, death, and the harvest season. Without a minute to spare they were off to the island of Ireland in class 3(4). Here they learned how to be an Irish kid while playing a traditional Irish game! As if that wasn’t enough, they found themselves in Argentina during “Friendship Day” where they got to slow down for a minute and learn about how special and meaningful friends are, and even take some time to thank their classmates for their friendship. After they had learned to appreciate one and another, they found themselves in Mexico also known as class 3(6). Here there were more festivities in store, they learned about “The Day of the Dead” and danced in celebration of their ancestors! With their holiday coming to an end, they arrived in the ancient culture of Egypt in class 3(7), where they learned about hieroglyphs and made their own secret messages of the past. Finally, their last stop was Turkey in class 3(8), where they found themselves seeing the sites on a guided tour through the ancient city of Istanbul. They explored mosques, bazars, and streets, stopping only to color their very own Arabic designs as a souvenir.
With this it was time to return to Shanghai weighed down with souvenirs and memories of all the wonderful countries they visited, perhaps they should have packed a suitcase after all.
