Grade 7: Youth Development Class—Stress Management
On the afternoon of October 21 in YD class, Grade 7 held a game show about how students deal with learning pressure. They learned a variety of practical ways to reduce learning pressure.
With this activity, students participated in five games, including “imagine if...,” “true or false,” “sketch it,” “act it out,” and “risk.” The students were divided into different groups and got between 10 and 50 points each time. This activity deeply explored the pressure students bear in the process of learning, and expressed a variety of ways to reduce pressure in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. For example, go outdoors to get close to nature, play ball games, run, draw, watch movies, sleep, listen to music, talk to people you are close to or trust, and do a meaningful activity with friends.
In the “act it out” activity, put yourself in a position to imagine how to deal with your pressure if someone is mean to you, so you feel sad. At this time, students still have to think about the things they like in the world, the people they are close to, and what a great person they are. In the “risk” session, the students listed what would take them through such a difficult and stressful time, including their favorite literary works, favorite music, favorite pets, favorite food and so on.
Finally, teachers and students hoped to get inspiration from this meaningful activity and find a suitable method to release pressure. We hope the students will be more positive and have higher expectations for themselves through this game!
