Waiting for the Blossoming of the Flowers: Grade 9 Parents Meeting

In order to strengthen communication between parents and the school, the Grade-9 Parents Meeting was held on the evening of September 27th.

Under the warm assistance of student volunteers, all the parents arrived at school in an orderly fashion. The first part of the parents’ meeting was held in the Annex Auditorium of Xianmian Building. High School Principal Ma Feng first delivered a speech. He started with the educational philosophy of SHSID and invited parents to, together, wait for the blossoming of the "flowers", hoping to help students’ development as a “whole” person and to contribute to students’ efforts in becoming a better self. Later, Principal Ma introduced the diversified curriculum system, efficient teaching methods, and the constantly-improving evaluation system and management mechanisms in high school. Next, High School Vice Principal Liu Min talked about the transformation of learning methods and learning attitudes fromjunior highschool to high school, pointing out that high-school learning requires students to set goals, improve their autonomy, and learn to make choices. After that, Ms. Chen Lin introduced the Teacher Advisor (TA) program to parents. Teachers of the TA program have diverse professional backgrounds, and they will help students make a smooth transition from junior high to high school. Ms. Sloan also delivered a speech as the representative of teacher advisors.

The second part of the parents’ meeting was held in the classrooms of Zhentao Building. The homeroom teachers led the parents of their classes to learn more about the rich courses and wonderful activities prepared by SHSID for the students.

The parents meeting ended successfully around 8:00 p.m. that evening. We believe that the harmonious communication between parents and the school will continue to help with students' future growth.
