Grade 10: Meet Two Fellow Alumni of SHSID

On September 16th, the 10th graders got the chance to meet two fellow alumni of SHSID during Academy class in the Zhentao Lecture Hall. First off, Mr. Liao Hui, STEM Advisor of SHSID, gave the students of Grade 10 some helpful tips regarding the topic of choosing competitions. He also pointed out the useful information posted on Blackboard and encouraged everyone to take the time to look through them. Sophomore year of high school is a great time for students to start thinking about who they want to be in the future, and exploring in a variety of competitions can help them discover what they prefer.

Next, Ms. Echo Zhang gave a brief introduction, reminding students of the importance of such informative lectures, before introducing two talented alumni of SHSID in a video call. First came Rachel, a current student of Oxford, starting her second year there studying biology and the social sciences. She shared her experience with time management as she had studied in the IB program. Secondly, Marco, a student currently studying at Tsinghua, shared his reasoning in choosing the AP curriculum when he was studying at SHSID. Last but not least came the Q&A session, where students asked both alumni about their working schedules, course choices and so on.
