SHSIDers Participate in Challenge Week of the Tencent Spark Plan 2021

From August 6th to the13th, 2021, Tencent Youth Program of Science and Technology Challenge Week kicked off. This challenge week gathered talented science-and-technology teenagers from all over the country to participate. Three students from SHSID had a one-week study and practical experience in the field of speech recognition and gesture recognition and had in-depth communication with outstanding technical employees from Tencent and experts in the field of education.

Under the guidance of experts from Youtu Lab, Charlie completed the model of gesture digital recognition and hand tracking with 21 landmarks. From the perspective of static detection attack and defense, he tried to solve various kinds of errors in vivo detection by learning the algorithm of a living object. In other groups, Andy and Andrew participated in the speech-recognition group and trained the speech-signal data set with machine learning to complete the multi-dimensional speech-recognition and data-analysis tasks. Furthermore, the application of the LSTM network was extended from voice to text, and the AI poetry-writing program was successfully completed.

Throughout this challenge week, the students learned how to discover, define, and disassemble problems, and how to use existing knowledge to expand the breadth and depth of their thinking. We hope they can go further and further on the road of science and technology and realize their dream in life.
