Middle School Biology Department: The SciAcademy—A Magical Club

And just like that, here comes another science fair! During this year’s fair, major STEM clubs and courses showcased their work throughout this semester and explore their passion for science. Among them, SciAcademy members worked hard to present what they have learned to their peers, younger students, and even to the public.

A week before the fair, SciAcademy members arranged a three-week lecture schedule for the elementary section. The speeches covered many topics such as“Do mosquitoes only bite certain people?”,“Is yawning contagious?”,“Why do optical illusions happen?” and so on. To offer primary school students a better view into the world of science, members spent a huge amount of time and effort on preparation! One member said it took him 2 weeks for research and another 2 weeks to finish the PPT. Our management team members and instructors have edited at least 3 versions of the PPT and script.Finally, all their hard work has paid off! The primary school students listened with great interest, asking many high-quality questions afterward. The teachers also congratulated members on their eye-opening presentations.

So what is SciAcademy? Many are familiar with the name of Student’s Academy of Science, one of many service-learning groups. SciAcademy boasts more than 80 members, spans four grades, and even has more than 7000 fans on Bilibili! SciAcademy is formed by students who have a passion for scientific knowledge. The group explores areas that include biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and many more fields. Members are curious about the world around us, desperately wanting to understand the “whys” and “hows” of this universe. Many will ask interesting questions in the group chat, such as“What are the consequences if I drink a gallon of coffee?”Next, everyone will delve into research and make scientific videos with a sprinkle of humor and wit. SciAcademy will release the completed product on Bilibili, YouTube, and other platforms for subscribers to view.

The work in SciAcademy is often challenging, but after releasing a video the preparation pays off! Here, members hope to ignite more people’s enthusiasm for the pursuit of truth through their enthusiasm for science! This is SciAcademy!
