Grade 6: Career Day Field Trip—Learning is Fun
How is a colorful and brilliant LED screen made? How many steps should a bag of delicious shrimp chips go through? How are the latest fashions brought to you? The answers were found out during the Grade 6 Career Day Field Trip. On May 6, students from all 12 classes in Grade 6 were divided into three groups to visit either Shanghai Sansi Electronic Engineering Co., Oishi factory, or the Shanghai headquarters of Xiaohongshu. All three are leading enterprises in the fields of science and technology, food, and Internet.
A Visit to Sansi
Students and teachers from 6(2), 6(3), 6(7), 6(8), and 6(9) of the SHSID visited the headquarters of Shanghai Sansi Electronic Engineering Co., a high-tech enterprise.
As a leading company in the domestic LED industry, Shanghai Sansi Electronic Engineering Co. has an R & D team of more than 400 engineers. Under the leadership and introduction of the science and technology team, the students learned about the whole process of LED, from product design to installation and maintenance of parts. In the system laboratory, the students experienced the solutions of LED classroom lighting and smart home and the application of LED display screen in various fields. Students also visited the latest 3D LED screen, and learned about the process of chip production, which is independently developed by Sansi electronics.
Through this visit and study, the students understand the working principle of lighting and display while having fun. It is the charm of science to understand the importance of rejuvenating the country through science and technology to national construction and realize the changes that science and technology bring to human life.
A Visit to The Oishi Food Factory
Students from classes 6 (1), 6 (4), 6 (5), 6 (10), 6 (11), and 6 (12) went to the Oishi food factory in Qingpu, Shanghai, for a career day visit.
Students were divided into four groups. According to different orders, they visited the extrusion workshop, frying workshop, semi-finished product workshop, and market activity exhibition hall.
The shrimp chips and potato chips produced by Oishi are not new to the students but the first time for them to go behind the scenes and understand the process of making these attractive snacks. At the production workshop, students learned that, for example, a bag of shrimp chips with a net content of only 40g needs to go through shrimp fishing, mixing shrimp with other ingredients in proportion, extrusion, deep frying, inspection and other processes. In the market activity exhibition hall, nearly 100 kinds of Oishi leisure snack products gave students a new understanding of the richness of leisure snacks.
The happy and colorful visiting time always passes quickly, while the students learn new knowledge while tasting all kinds of snacks. Students ended their career day visit with a satisfied smile.
A Visit to Xiaohongshu
On May 6th, Class 6(6) of SHSID visited the headquarters of Xiao Hong Shu as their career day field trip.
Xiaohongshu is one of the most popular social media platforms in China. Its headquarters is located in Xintiandi, Shanghai. While our bus arrived in the parking lot, the staff of Xiaohongshu were already awaiting our arrival and guided us to their office building.
The students were so excited to visit the backstage of this platform. Currently, Xiaohongshu has billions of users. People can share and post videos and even live stream! On Xiaohongshu, there are many topics including food, voyage, designs, fashion, art, pets, education, etc.
Finally we arrived at the office area of Xiaohongshu. First, we were guided to a working area. They arranged for the programs of learning how to make an account, how to use it, how to post videos and articles, and how to interact with other users as well as how to increase the popularity of your posts. Lastly, we learned about the hot topics these days. We asked a few questions and had a group photos together. “Their office is cool! We like their company culture and enjoy learning about Xiaohongshu as a new career choice,” said the students.
Through this career day field trip, students not only learned a lot but also felt that every bit of beauty in life is closely related to the diligence and wisdom of the staff behind the scenes. All students were inspired and will work harder to prepare for their ideal career in the future.
