Grade 8: Youth Portraying the Classics

April 30, 2021

On April 29, the entire eighth grade sat in the lecture hall, ready for students from the Chinese H and S level to show the play they have been practicing for weeks.

Over the past two months, teachers have been filling the Chinese classes with characters and stories from the novels “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” and “Water Margin.” Now, it was time for students to interpret these stories into plays and perform these well-written scripts together with their classmates on Thursday’s YD class.

The plays performed involved four different versions of a story selected from “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” and two versions of a story chose from a narrative in “Water Margin.” All six stories demonstrated deep understanding and creativity in the students’ performances. The students had a great time watching the funny and educational plays. The performers also discovered a new side of their acting skills and learned more about the stories depicted.

The eighth graders celebrated a joyous and meaningful afternoon with laughter and applause.
