High School Department of Social Sciences: Professional Development Day
April 23rd is the school’s Professional Development Day. Teachers in the Social Sciences Department had a seminar which was held by Ms. Zhang Li, head of the Department. Five teachers in the department presented their lesson plans on this seminar. Firstly, Ms. Chen chose the topic of marketing in the course Business Management. In her lesson plan, she guided students through class activities to explore the product life cycle based on real-life cases. Mr. Chu’s Global Perspective course focused on the topic of “Brexit”. He analyzed the issue from various aspects including international relationships, economics, human geography, and technology. After that, Ms. He shared a simulation activity she had designed on the process of money creation in macroeconomics, which was quite interesting and interactive. Then, as the Law course teacher, Mr. Zuo designed a class with a high level of critical thinking. Based on real past cases, he guided students to discuss the problems that exist with statutory interpretation. Lastly, Ms. Gu illustrated the relationship between economic growth and economic development by comparing the economic data among three different countries. Finally, the teachers had a group discussion to exchange opinions and suggestions.
