Grade 9: Assembly — No Tolerance for E-Cigarettes

In the morning Assembly on March 30th, Demi Yang gave a speech on electronic cigarettes. She starts by talking about some harmful consequences of “having a try” on vaping. She continued with her speech by further introducing facts about e-cigarettes, including how they are claimed by sellers to be harmless but are actually just as harmful as normal cigarettes. Extending her point, she listed some other inappropriate methods of dealing with pressure, including consuming alcohol. She also suggested students keep healthy by not staying up late and learning to refuse bad habits. This speech’s rather new topic was very impressive to the audience — most of them weren’t aware of the proximity and danger of e-cigarettes. To reinforce this lesson, Ms. Gu Ying also reiterated that e-cigarettes are as dangerous to health as cigarettes and are prohibited by the school's "no tolerance rules".

Recently, the topic of vaping’s infringement on the human body has been discussed at a high level. At present, there are various products in the market. Some of them are even ‘disguised’ as daily objects, such as USB flash drives or pens. It has spread rapidly in the past two years and has become popular among teenagers. According to the research results of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, young people aged 15-24 have the highest proportion among people who know and use it. As for vaping, general society focuses mainly on its harm to human health. At the school level, great attention is also paid to the development of students’ proper standards of conduct in addition to the health concern.
