Grades 6-8: Colorful Art Festival

December 17, 2020

On the afternoon of December 17, 2020, the auditorium was full of laughter, and in the cheers and applause of the teachers and students, the art festival of the middle school section began!

The program was wonderful, with carefully chosen performers and an enthusiastic audience. All you could hear was laughter and praise. Combining characteristics from both Chinese and Western culture, the art festival provided many colorful and unique performances. Chinese opera song Red Lady, a martial arts performance, sixth-graders’ elegant bamboo flute playing, and a lively and interesting cross-talk performance called Study Like This were full of Chinese traditional culture. From grade 7, we were delighted with a wonderful magic show. This skilled routine attracted the eyes of teachers and students, winning bursts of applause. Additionally, the school orchestra, string band, and musical theater brought us even more surprise, highlighting the school’s abundant extracurricular activities.

The festival is a great platform to showcase your personal strengths, and each performance was filled with a distinct surprise, both in terms of costumes and choreography. The songs came in a variety of forms, with solos, choruses, and acapella. The melodious singing filled every corner of the auditorium, bringing the audience into a whole new world. Dance programs have always riled up our spirits in the auditorium, and this year is no exception. Folk dancing and modern dances brought to us by the SPDC club and student groups have been a delight. It is worth mentioning that the “Immigrant Song”, performed by a band made up of foreign teachers and students from grades seven and eight, brought the festival to a climax. The art festival was also interspersed with lucky draws that added suspense and joy into the air. Even with the festival coming to an end, the spirits did not drop in any way. The percussion ensemble’s performance of “Ceremony” only brought more excitement into the air.

Finally, the art festival ended with a grand debut of Chinese and English teachers. The students, seeing their usually strict and serious teachers who are usually strict and serious in class perform a delightful and festive dance onstage were shocked, but that didn’t stop them from enjoying it. The teachers unanimously won the most enthusiastic cheers and applause!

Time flies when you are having fun. The show has ended, but our enthusiasm is endless. We appreciate all the hard work from the students and teachers in these remarkable performances and are looking forward to the Art Festival next year!
