Grade 10: Supporting Education in Guizhou
During the sophomores’ Assembly session in the morning of December 2nd, Mike Chen from 10(9) and Nina Ma from 10(2) introduced their team, “Guizhou Education” — current participants in the competition China Thinks Big (CTB) — and briefly elaborated on their objectives to accomplish in the future.
At the start of the presentation, Mike gave a brief overview of the team’s personal experience with educating the impoverished middle-school students in Guizhou. Mike emphasized that the students’ potential and talent in different subjects along with the relatively low quality of education in Guizhou motivated him to establish this team with co-leader Ian Lu all in hopes of enhancing students’ academic capabilities.
Next, Nina elaborated on the detailed lesson plans for Chinese history and English, teaching methods, and schedules that the team members devised together; she explained that Guizhou Education will be a long-term project, and the team will aim for leaving lasting impacts on the educational system of Guizhou. Finally, Mike emphasized how everyone shall have a moral incentive of reaching out to those in need, and concluded his presentation.
