Puxi Campus Grade 5: Fun Activities in Math Class

November 26, 2020

In this week’s math class, the fifth-grade math teachers led the students in groups to carry out different interesting class activities. The students were enthusiastic and actively participated, and some group competitions were rewarded with prizes to arouse the students’ fighting spirit.

In the problem-solving task card activity, four people formed a group, randomly selected cards, calculated, and wrote out the answers after reading the questions. There were 32 cards in total. The fastest group that completed all the tasks would win, and the teacher as the referee would decide the final winning group based on a combination of both the group’s correct answer rate and speed in answering. Each student in the winning group would get a prize. The students all divided the work rationally, raced against time, concentrated on solving problems, asked for help in the group if they encountered problems with understanding or calculations, and completed the tasks together.

It coincided with Thanksgiving and there was a turkey division class activity in the math class. The cute turkey has a body with a dividend and there were divisors in the wings. The students need to find the corresponding turkey body and wings through calculations and give the correct quotient. Then they painted the turkey with different colors and cut it out for presentation.

The interesting classroom activities not only lighten the serious teaching atmosphere, but also make students have a firmer grasp of the main ideas behind the lesson.
