Grade 7: The Story of Water
On October 29th, Professor Tang Yulin from Tongji University came to SHSID to educate the students of seventh grade about water. He told us about the use of water in everyday life, the pollution of water, etc. Furthermore, we were taught how to recycle water and how a lack of water is currently affecting the globe. Additionally, many of us gained other new information that is particularly interesting. For example, Taihu Lake has previously been covered with so much algae that from above it has looked like a grassy plain. Also, we learned which specific chemicals are harmful to clean water and how poisoned water can ruin everyday life. The lecture made us all realize that water is a fundamental element of life, and many students will now think twice before wasting water.
After the lecture, there was a Q&A session in which students participated by asking many questions. This part really heightened students’ level of thinking about the topic, and all of the thoughtful questions helped us further understand the importance of water and how it functions. Overall, this lecture was greatly influential and beneficial to the students of SHSID. This form of learning and sharing can create great change in the minds of young people, who will ideally follow the professor’s tracks and change the world.
