Grade 7: Career Day
On October 22nd, all of the seventh graders attended a wonderful series of lectures presented by professionals about their careers and lives.
This time, the twelve speakers were all experts coming from different fields. Ms. Chen Yunyin, who’s an expert in the art of tea, shared her passion for the culture of tea. Mr. Ooi Aik Leong explained the concept of VROC, making predictions with the use of information generated by machines, so that students could see hightech up close. Ms. Zhu Lin, an experienced credit analyst, introduced how banks handle risk management in a simple way. Prof. Fu Qihua talked about the reason people get genetic diseases. The CEO of CooTek, Mr. Wang Jialiang, shared his inspiration for why he wanted to start his own business. Ms. Xu Qing shared the memorable experiences of her career in insurance.
Mr. Walter Kang discussed the development of “green chemistry.”Dr. Yuan Xiaoyu talked about the steps necessary for controlling the spread of a pandemic. Ms. Hong Qiannan’s speech satisfied students’ curiosity about Blockchain;she started talking by about a blue cat and then gave many vivid examples of the applications of Blockchain. Prof. Qian Jun introduced the concept of finance to students. These lectures all provided students with opportunities to talk with experts facetoface while stimulatingtheir curiosity and imagination.
Why do students have Career Day? Lecturing and sharing with the younger generation can greatly affect their perspective on certain things. The younger generations adore the elder ones since they are always following in their tracks and so the influences they receive can change their lives forever. We hope that every student will follow their heart and pursue their dream career.
