High School Social Sciences Department: Professional Development Day

October16th is the school’s Professional Development Day. Teachers in the Social Sciences Department gathered to have a seminar held by Ms. Zhang Li, the head of the Department. The Social Sciences Department is home to several different subjects. Three teachers from the department shared their experience on the subjects they teach. Ms. Chen Fei introduced A-level Economics course which is offered from this year. She shared how to use news analysis to improve students’ application skills. Ms. Gu Yuewen reviewed the achievements and provided an outlook to the Grade 10 course Economics and Business. This included test analysis, case studies, homework presentation, and group projects using conceptual learning. Mr. Zuo Qian analyzed the difficulties of teaching law to high school students. He shared how he used various teaching methods to let students better motivated and engaged. Though different courses are different in their contents, the similarities of creating a better learning environment and developing students’ leaning abilities raised further reflections among the teachers.
