Grade 9: Lecture on Sportsmanship

October 16, 2020

On the afternoon of October 12th, 2020, two PE teachers presented a lecture to the 9th graders on the topic of sportsmanship, justice, and regulations in sports in the Xianmian Auditorium. Two major examples, the placement of transgender athletes and the usage of performance enhancements in sports, were specifically discussed. The teachers first introduced the status quo of such regulations in sports, and then asked students for their own thoughts on the matter. Students provided various and diverging answers, and the teachers finally concluded the lecture with general solutions or amendments that could be made to the current regulations.

The two topics discussed in this lecture have been indeed very topical and controversial in sports for a long time. They are also very important topics for students to learn about sports and the surrounding communities. Thus, through this lecture, students developed a better understanding of these topics and would be able to form their own opinions on these topics.
