Grade 11: The Beginning of Junior Projects

October 14, 2020

On October 10th, the 11th Grade students had their first Assembly after the National Holiday. First, Director Yu introduced Junior Projects, which every student needs to be a part of. Students would be required to form groups of 6-8 and find a mentor to supervise the progress. Every month, each individual would submit a progress report which would be graded by the mentor and compiled into a Junior Project Portfolio. It is recommended that everyone shall finish the project with wholehearted effort and collaboration.

Shortly after, two club leaders stood on stage, giving a presentation about how to set up a club. The club leaders started with short descriptions of their own clubs and went directly into topic. They warned students who wanted to start a club about the extensive amount of time and effort a club requires. The presenters also suggested one to consider the effect of starting a club on their studies, and recommended students to prioritize their studies before club inaugurations. On the other hand, they gave invigorating comments to those brave challengers, including “Don’t let your failures get to you!” and “Don’t give up!”

Moreover, the presenters demonstrated the characteristics and skills that would be demanded: dedication, persistence, collaboration, leadership, and many others. The demonstration ended with a round of applause. As the bell rang, everybody rushed to class. But what was certain was that they learned a lot from this Assembly.
