Grade 11: Parents Meeting Successfully Held

In order to give parents a better understanding of the university application process, SHSID held a parents meeting for juniors' parents during the evening on September 18th.

After 5 o'clock, parents began to arrive at school one after another. ASB students volunteered to register, check, and assist parents at the entrance. After the completion of registration, parents wore masks and entered Xianmian Annex Auditorium.

Principal Ma first introduced the educational concept of SHSID and the educational innovation under the influence of the new era with technology. He then showed the parents fruitful results of the extracurricular activities and their outstanding achievements and put forward his vision for the future. The speech was followed by VicePrincipalZhang. She introduced the College Counseling team for the next two years and briefly described the process and key points of college applications. Immediately after, 11th grade supervisor Ms. Yu specifically described what academic challenges the students will face. In the past year, the now 11th graders had also achieved a lot of honors in extracurricular activities. Finally, IB & AP Coordinator Ms. Jiang introduced the IB learner profile and the conceptual requirements of the IB courses.

At the end of the first part of the meeting, parents went back to the homerooms and the homeroom teacher of each class introduced the parents to the class. They briefed parents on the main arrangements for the school this semester and the preparations students would need to make for university applications in the following academic year. At the same time, homeroom teachers once again stressed the importance of academic planning. Finally, homeroom teachers also introduced the parents to the latest anti-epidemic policy of the school.

After this parents meeting, the parents now have a deeper understanding of the life and mission of Grades 11 and 12. The school will also work with parents to do their best to help every student.
