Grades 9-10: ASB Elections

September 22, 2020

TheAssociate Student Board (ASB)elections of Grades 9 and 10 were held on September 16th during CAS. The atmosphere was tense as each candidate waited patiently but urgently for his/her turn to speak to the crowd in the auditorium that eagerly looked forward to the 2020 elections. Sophie Yu of Class 9(2) and Eric He of Class 10(3) were the hosts and presented each of the 27 candidates: 14 from Grade 10 and 13 from Grade 9. The format of the ASB elections were 1-minute speeches and a brief self-made video that would showcase individual qualities followed by a more intense speed round where candidates, three at a time, were given 30 seconds to respond to a question submitted by students.

Many students listed their successful projects and presented their traits of honesty, leadership, dependability, and humor. Also, candidates presented amusing videos that displayed their own skills and passions. Each video stood out in its own way. From original songs to self-drawn animations, fromTeletubbiestoFriendsreferences, it would be difficult to narrow down the list to a handful of candidates when everyone was clearly dedicated to working for the student body.

There is a myriad of talented people at SHSID, their personal interests and styles may differ, but they all have one goal: to make SHSID a better place.
