Grade 10: Connecting to the Digital World

September 21, 2020

On Thursday, September 17th, 10th Grade students gathered in the Lecture Hall for a sharing session given by Mr. He Tianzhou about modern information technology and people’s connections to the digital world.

In recent years, technology has become an increasingly dominant component of people's lives as it plays a crucial role in daily routines. Living in a digital world of high technology, we are able to receive guidance from digital maps regardless of what part of the world we live in, we are able to order products and goods from countries all across the globe, and we get to experience all sorts of conveniences brought by modern technology. Yet most significantly, with the development of social media, we are given the opportunity to connect with people from different regions of the massive world who share mutual interests or same cultural backgrounds as ourselves. It has become a means for people to seek human connections in a digital society outside of their daily physical world.

With technology, the world becomes smaller while the people who live in it get closer. Also, the session introduced several interesting fields of modern technology such as 3D printing and programming; these are the fundamental skills and knowledge that human society has acquired in recent decades and that have revolutionized the entire world.
