Grade 8: Remarkable Rummikub!
During YD class on September 17th, the eighth gradersfaceda new challenge: mastering the game of Rummikub! The game was unfamiliarto many students, but teachersquicklyaddressed their concerns.
In short, Rummikub is a math game that requires players to create and manipulate sequences of numbers. Players change and add new sequences by adding or replacing number tiles, and the player who uses all of their tiles first wins.
After students were introduced to the game, many were eager to participate. Each classroom had a set of Rummikub tiles, and players excitedly sat around the desks. Many students crowded around to watch the competitions. At first, many players could not even make a first move, but after a few rounds the game became tense and heated. With more tiles to play with, players thought of creative moves that amazed the audience. When the players could not find a good move, the enthusiastic viewers helped them out. After over half an hour of intense playing, students mastered the rules of Rummikub!
This was a truly thrilling afternoon where students had a chance to try out new games and have fun with their classmates. Soon, the day would be over, but the joy of playing Rummikub would long remain in students’ hearts!
