Grade 6: Online Parents’ Meeting
On September 16, grade 6 of the International Department of Shanghai High School held an online parents’ meeting in a new format. Using the ClassIn platform, teachers introduced the curriculum, activity arrangements, school rules, and regulations of grade 6 to parents.
First, the head of year, Ms. Cheng, spoke about the requirements and expectations for the sixth grade students and introduced the extracurricular activities of this semester. Next, the director of grades 6-8, Mr. Shen, briefly explained the changes students might come across in 6th grade. Some changes might involve the learning content and methods. He also spoke on how parents can help the students cope with the changes. Then, the teachers in charge of Chinese, Mathematics, English, Science, and History introduced the curriculum and main content of grade 6, as well as the requirements of different subjects for homework and moving up. Finally, the parents entered the ClassIn classroom for each homeroom. The homeroom teachers introduced the characteristics of each class and answered the parents’ questions.
After the online parents’ meeting, some parents said, “through this meeting, I know more of the curriculum and activities of grade 6. I have more confidence in how to help my kid better adapt to the new changes of the new semester.” I hope that students can adjust and embrace the challenges in the future through studying and activities and strive to achieve more personal growth.
