September 15, 2020

On September 10, the 9th graders gathered in the Zhentao Building lecture hall for their first academy course lecture. The lecture –– given by Ms. Zeng from the college counseling office –– focused on informing students about how to organize their summer and winter vacations wisely.

The talk began by stressing the importance of extracurriculars in the college application process. What high schoolers choose to do with their free time helps them distinguish themselves outside of scores, so making good use of holiday time helps.

The lecture provided numerous tips on how to make productive vacation plans, encouraging students to participate in different programs tailored to their interests, sign up for pre-college classes, look for meaningful internships and volunteer activities, and more. Along with these tips, the presentation also gave students advices on how to access helpful resources to assist planning.

Overall, this lecture reminded students of the value of time and informed them on what steps they could take to be productive during the vacation months.
