Grades 6&7: Fire Drill

September 10, 2020

On the afternoon of Thursday, September 10th, the youth development classes of grades 6 and 7 had a fire drill. In order to avoid congestion, grades 4-5 and grades 6-7 practiced the fire drillduringtwo different periods. The purpose of this practice is topreparestudentssotheydonot panic if there is an emergencybutinsteadevacuate to the safe areainaquick andorderlymanner.

As soon as the fire alarm rang, the students in the school building immediately took action. Everyone donned a face mask and quickly took out the towels from the emergency boxes, covered their mouths and noses securely beneath their masks, and walked down the stairs quickly and systematically according to the escape route. The teachers stood in the stairways, evacuating the crowd and maintaining discipline. A few minutes later, all of the teachers and students of the whole building were evacuated to the designated area safely. After the teachers counted the number of students and confirmed that all the students had arrived, the first practice ended smoothly. Afterwards, the students walked back to the building.

Doing the fire drill once a semester allows everyone to practice evacuating to the safety zones as quickly as possible. This has trained the students’ ability to adapt to the circumstances when danger arises. Although most of the students have experienced fire drills many times, they still take them seriously and strictly abide by the teacher’s instructions. The whole process is tense and orderly. It is believed that after this fire drill, all of the students are more proficient in the skills of safe evacuation during times of crisis.
