Grade 11: Junior Orientation: Personal Development and Planning

September 4, 2020

On September 2nd, 11th grade students spent the afternoon CAS class in their respective homerooms for junior orientation. As the homeroom teachers explained all the details with college applications and planned various activities, juniors were able to understand more about the upcoming semester while setting specific plans.

This junior orientation focused on the impending college applications. The teachers first introduced how each university has a different application process, different application types, and the materials needed for college applications. Through analyzing example cases and essays, juniors experienced the process of applying for college for the first time. After the lecture, each homeroom teacher provided the students with a Kahoot link to test their knowledge on the college application process. While students actively participated in this Kahoot activity, they were also able to consolidate their understanding. Lastly, the teachers gave each student a worksheet to fill out their plans for the upcoming year and how they were going to plan for their academics, extracurriculars, and other activities.

This junior orientation allowed students to transit from sophomore year to a more intense junior year. By asking questions enthusiastically and participating actively, students revealed their expectations and determination for the upcoming year. All the students are willing to work hard in the upcoming year and move towards their goals.
