Grades 6–8: For the future of Children — Children’s Day Cloud Charity Concert

June 2, 2020

As the saying goes, “Under the same blue sky, we work hand in hand.” Music is boundless, love is unlimited, and SHSID has always adhered to the concept of “visible charity” to cultivate students’ sense of world citizenship. On the evening of Children’s day on June 1st, teachers and students of G6-8 carefully prepared the thrilling “Cloud Charity Concert”, which was initiated by Jason Yu of grade seven. We dearly thank all of the students for their active participation, the parents for their enthusiastic support, and the teachers for acting as hosts, each allowing the concert to end successfully last night.

At 7 P.M. on June 1st, the “Children’s Day Cloud Charity Concert” of G6-8 was launched at the same time on LinkedClassroom and WeChat. The concert was jointly performed by the teachers and students, and the whole concert was delivered through students’ recorded performances and the teachers’ online live broadcast. The students carefully recorded wonderful performances in advance for everyone, bringing a lyrical, cheerful, and live music concert to our eyes. The performances were full of passion, and the students who participated danced or played piano solos, violin duets, guitar, etc., bringing us classical pieces familiar to everyone’s ears. The Chinese and foreign teachers of junior high school also devoted themselves to the performance. Special thanks go out to the anchors, Mr. Johnson, Ms.Meng Shiyue, Ms. Jessye Scott, Ms. Hannah Bush, and Mr. Ben Seevers, as well as the special guests, Mr. Shen Tianyuan, Ms. Cheng Liyan, and Ms. Liu Qiong. The teachers turned into vibrant live internet hosts, with both strong emotions and eloquent expressions. The live broadcast and lucky draw were interspersed throughout this vibrant program. This rich diversity of music brought a feast to our senses and added a bit of color to our campus life.

Just like the usual practice, the concert set up a WeChat store link for everyone to give donations to support the performers, and the funds raised will be donated to charities and schools in rural areas. Thanks to the parents’ strong support, as of noon on June 2nd, the second day of the concert, a total of more than 38000 yuan had been raised.

The marvelous “cloud” concert was praised by parents and students. “The concert is wonderful; the children are wonderful!” Jason’s mother said passionately, “Thanks for the precious platform and opportunity given by the school to the children, which let them have a very meaningful children’s day.” This concert helped children understand the true meaning of music: dedication and happiness. The event is dedicated to charities, and teachers and students will work together to continue to bring good deeds to children in need.
