Grades 1–3: Science Week is Coming

May 19, 2020

From May 18thto 22nd, 2020, primary grades 1 through 3 of SHSID Puxi campus will have Science Week. The goal of Science Week is for students to discover inspiring scientists in different ways, watch science videos and have group discussion, and try all kinds of fun experiments by following the instructions in the teaching videos.

This year, the Science Fair will be an online virtual museum. Every student can choose to participate in and make a science project. They can enjoy other projects and learn the scientific research method. The students will be able to learn how to conduct scientific research—ask a question, gather information, make a guess, test the hypothesis by doing experiments, analyze data, and draw conclusions. The students will present the results and conclusions by making a display board and record a video of it. Through this process, every student who participates will understand how to use the scientific method to do research.

Students will find different scientific phenomena and do research about them, such as why we need sunblock in summer, how to make a circuit and light the bulbs with vegetables, and how environmental conditions affect how mold grows on the food. Every student will turn into a little scientist!

We hope that the upcoming Science Week will stimulate our students’ curiosity about learning science and inspire them to further explore the many amazing aspects of science.
